A LOVELY WEDDING RECEPTION AT THE INN AT STONECLIFFE

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:  Confession… When it snows before Dec. the 25th, I feel like glitter is falling from the sky and I want wash my face, my hands, my hair in snow.  Now that it’s one day shy of Feb., and it’s still snowing, I’m just kinda like, “Mewh, whatevs.”

ABOUT THE PHOTO:  I loved every second of 2016 (okay, there were a few icky moments…so I loved MOST every second), and one of the biggest reasons was because of all the amazing locations we got to photograph at.  One of the gems of Mackinac Island, is for sure, The Inn at Stonecliffe.  She just doesn’t take a bad picture!!  An English style Tudor mansion nestled in the middle of the island.  It’s private, it’s quaint, and it’s gorgeous!   Check out this reception set up in the Bridgeview Tent!!!

NOTE TO BRIDES:  Allow time in your photographers timeline to get into the reception area to photograph it before your guests arrive!  One great thing about McCoy Made, is that most of our collections include both Mark & myself (two lead photographers!), so we are able to split up in the day to get great room shots like this!

Happy Tuesday y’all… I’m still drinking coffee over here because like I said, it’s snowing outside and that in itself makes me feel chilly and crave something hot to drink!  Raising my mug to you this afternoon, here’s to a great week!

A fun wedding party on Mackinac Island

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:  “It was summertime, in Northern Michigan…” I can’t get that song out of my head today.  I guess all the current planning for the 2017 wedding season has got me daydreaming about summertime, as well as reflecting back to 2016 where Mark and I got to photograph and witness 27 incredible couples start their forever’s and document memories that will last them a lifetime.

ABOUT THE PHOTO:  Because I think we could all stand to loose ourselves in a little bit of happiness today, I'm sharing a happy photo today.  This bride and groom and their squad, were by far, one of the most relaxed wedding parties ever.  And I love when I can walk away from a wedding day, and feel like Mark and I became friends with everyone!  Happy vibes over here just thinking about it!

A TIP FOR BRIDES:  If you’re getting married on Mackinac Island, make sure your photographer knows how to capture the essence of the island (and how to navigate their way around!!)!  There are tons of lovely trees and small pathways around the island that make for AMAZING wedding photo’s.  But you didn’t come all the way up north to just be photographed in beautiful, but non-descriptive, locations!  For example, BIKES!  What would Mackinac Island be without bikes!?!?  We’d all be moving around a whole lot slower, I can tell you that!  And as small as it is, there are LOTS of amazing vendors local to Mackinac Island who understand how everything works, so be sure to check them all out!! #hirelocal

We have a few great 2017 dates available still, if you or someone you know is getting married on Mackinac, we would LOVE to talk with them!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Beautiful wedding at the Inn at Stonecliffe

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: Some things we did in 2016 didn’t quite work out the way we had hoped, so we’re taking that as motivation and running full speed ahead in 2017 to make a change. Well, a few changes. We’re selling our home and most likely moving full time to Mackinac Island. We have trained for over a year, and are officially rolling out new photography packages for McCoy Made that we think brides will LOVE and will accessible to a broader range of people. We are building a new website and a new blog. And hey, I need new recipes!!! So feel free to pass along anything yummy that you love!

SIDE NOTE: If you are a wedding vendor in Northern Michigan, and are looking to collaborate on something creative, please send me an email!!! I have some ideas, and would love to hear yours!

ABOUT THE PHOTO: Here are both sides to a single moment. And what I mean by that is, you get to see both the brides face AND the grooms face when they first saw one another at the wedding ceremony. Mark and I always try to make sure we are able to capture that exact moment when a bride and groom see one another for the first time, to capture EACH of their faces! I sometimes think that people get so excited to stand up and watch a bride and her father that often the groom is forgotten about. Not with us! We LOVE to capture all the emotions!

ABOUT THE VENUE: We can’t say enough amazing things about photographing a wedding ceremony in The Grotto at The Inn at Stonecliffe, it’s truly a hidden, magical place. And wasn't this bride STUNNING?!

I’ve got my coffee in hand, here’s to a fabulous Thursday!!!
