A fun wedding party on Mackinac Island

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:  “It was summertime, in Northern Michigan…” I can’t get that song out of my head today.  I guess all the current planning for the 2017 wedding season has got me daydreaming about summertime, as well as reflecting back to 2016 where Mark and I got to photograph and witness 27 incredible couples start their forever’s and document memories that will last them a lifetime.

ABOUT THE PHOTO:  Because I think we could all stand to loose ourselves in a little bit of happiness today, I'm sharing a happy photo today.  This bride and groom and their squad, were by far, one of the most relaxed wedding parties ever.  And I love when I can walk away from a wedding day, and feel like Mark and I became friends with everyone!  Happy vibes over here just thinking about it!

A TIP FOR BRIDES:  If you’re getting married on Mackinac Island, make sure your photographer knows how to capture the essence of the island (and how to navigate their way around!!)!  There are tons of lovely trees and small pathways around the island that make for AMAZING wedding photo’s.  But you didn’t come all the way up north to just be photographed in beautiful, but non-descriptive, locations!  For example, BIKES!  What would Mackinac Island be without bikes!?!?  We’d all be moving around a whole lot slower, I can tell you that!  And as small as it is, there are LOTS of amazing vendors local to Mackinac Island who understand how everything works, so be sure to check them all out!! #hirelocal

We have a few great 2017 dates available still, if you or someone you know is getting married on Mackinac, we would LOVE to talk with them!

Happy Friday everyone!!!

We are SO excited for the 2015 wedding season to get started!  We are about 75% booked for the year, so if you are thinking of contacting us to shoot your wedding there's no time like today!! =)

I love this image from Sandy & Matt's wedding day on Mackinac Island last summer, in front of Mission Point Resort!  Sunshine, The Great Lakes, sailboats and smiles make for a PERFECT Northern Michigan wedding!

And now for PART ll of Gina+Joe's beautiful Mackinac Island wedding, hosted at Mission Point Resort!

their wedding flowers were created by //  St.Ignace Greenhouse & Florist

We had SO much fun watching these two interact during their carriage ride-portrait session following their ceremony!  There was little to no reminding needed to get them to look at each other and smile (not to mention that they're a super good looking couple and our camera's loved them!)!

SOOOOO, as we were wandering through a wooded area near Grand Hotel, we came across a tree that we asked Gina to lean on.  Then we asked Joe to get near to her and look at her, and BADABOOM BADABANG!  The HOTTEST picture of the year was instantly awarded!!

Gina+Joe, you two look SO good and SO happy together!

After their carriage ride, it was on to the reception!  We loved the yellow and grey color pallette...

And some of my favorite moments during the reception, are the moments of interaction between a bride and her father...  During Gina's fathers toast, he got so choked up that he couldn't finish speaking and Gina's brother had to step in to finish the speech.  And I almost got so choked up watching, I couldn't finish shooting!  But of course I gained composure and caught this moment of Gina's dad watching her.

Gina+Joe, we wish you the BEST life and marriage has to offer!!!
